Located at the foot of Sheshan Mountain in Songjiang District, Shanghai, the Shanghai Sheshan InterContinental Hotel (Deep Pit Hotel) is the world's lowest-altitude five-star hotel and the first natural ecological hotel built in an abandoned quarry.
It is recognized as one of the "Top Ten Architectural Wonders of the World" alongside the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
The hotel's main structure is divided into three parts: above-ground, underground to water level, and underwater, with a total construction area of 55,058 square meters.
The structure is primarily a spatial truss structure, with a longitudinal axis span of 99 meters and a transverse axis span of 80.4 meters. The top of the concrete columns is at an elevation of 21 meters, the eaves at 24 meters, and the ridge structure at 24.9 meters. The largest single truss has a span of 45 meters and weighs 19 tons.
